The Gymnastics Competition - Magog Dome

Mistress Nine: Welcome to the Magog Dome, home to our Gymnastics Competition portion of the Summer Senshi Olympic Games, which is running a little late - he he.

Kaolinite: And today's competitors will be Setsuna Meioua, Rei Hino, Usagi Tsukino, and Ami Mizuno. These gymnasts will start out the tournament with the vaults. Rei Hino will be up first, but before we get to the first vault, I have one question.

Mistress Nine: What would that be?

Kaolinite: How is Usagi going to participate without klutzing out?

Mistress Nine: *laughs* That's a good question! Well, after Rei's vault, we'll get the answer to that question, because Usagi's next.

Rei Hino, clad in a red bodysuit and long, dark hair pulled back in a sleek bun, prepares herself for the vault. She takes a deep breath, and runs towards the vault. She flips over once, bouncing her hands on the vault, flying gracefully through the air, and landing on the canvas, but she takes one large step back, then assumes her ending position.

Kaolinite: Beautiful vault, if it weren't for that huge step. She went high in the air.

Mistress Nine: Yes. And that running was powerful. Now she will do a second vault. The judges will give us the scores after her second vault, and then take the higher of the two scores.

A fustrated Rei Hino walks to the beginning of the vault track. She once again prepares for the run, vowing to get the landing right this time. She runs down the track, jumps on the bouncing board, flips in the air, bounces from the vault with her hands, flying higher in the air, and lands perfectly on the canvas. She tenses for a second, and assumes the finishing position.

*Crowd cheers*

Kaolinite: Amazing! That was beautiful! She flipped high into the air, putting all of her strength into the vault, and makes a perfet landing.

Mistress Nine: Ditto here. But let's see what the judges say. *Looks at judges panel* A score for the first vault - 9.788. Not bad. Of course, she could have been better. Kaolinite, why do you think the gave her such a score?

Kaolinite: I suppose the gave her a 9.788 because they expected more of her. You have to admit, her first one was kind of weak. But the next one should be pretty high, because her second vault was amazing.

Mistress Nine: *Looks at the judges panel again* And I think you may be right - the second vault receives a paltry 9.800. Not a big increase, but then again, these judges are pretty tough.

Kaolinite: And now for Usagi Tsukino's vault. She has practiced hard for this, so I've heard.

Mistress Nine: Yes. And her silly hairstyle won't do in this competition, so she's got a nice French braid. Now, for the answer to your question - will she klutz out? Let's go to Mimete who earlier in the day interviewed Miss Tsukino.

*In a posh studio sits Usagi and Mimete*

Mimete: So, Usagi, how do you feel about today?

Usagi: Extremely nervous. Luna says that all the practice I've had oughta make me completely confident, but you know me - klutzy Usagi-chan! I believe Ami-chan will win, 'cause she seems to be the best out of all of us.

*Back to the announcer's box*

Mistress Nine: Well, that was just an excerpt of the interview between Usagi and Mimete.

Kaolinite: Well, we'll be right back  with Usagi Tsukino's vault and more, after this commercial break.

(So that this wouldn't be too long, we'll divide the vault events into two pages)
